Multi-Agent System-Based Hierarchical Protection Scheme for Distribution Networks With High Penetration of Electronically-Coupled DGs

With the increasing penetration of distributed generations, preserving protection system coordination is great importance for distribution network operation. This paper presents a supplementary strategy multi-agent (MAS)-based hierarchical scheme (HPS). The primary level MAS-based HPS clears fault and preserves while higher levels update relay settings. key advantage proposed that can autonomously quickly preserve when main during time-consuming process updating settings in case operating condition change. By adopting converter-based DGs as only MAS agents, divides into several zones communicate together using point-to-point communication. Without communicating with levels, limits influence on current by controlling produced power each zone. effectiveness validated through simulation studies Isfahan network.
